Loc Legacies

Our Culture. Our Humanity. Our Divinity. We live our Best Loc Life through all of those. We are deeply rooted in the various aspects and perspectives of every individual path and Loc Journey. We serve the Loc’d Community by educating, coaching, providing resources and insight for the wellness of our people, and continually keeping us rooted in what’s real~our connection to each other.

Brief History

Loc Legacies evolved from other names since 1997 in Omaha, Nebraska. Starting off as Essence of You, the final name for this business was a solid decision after a moment of clarity that revealed loc’d hair is totally UniVersal and has an infinitely rooted Legacy.

I, Aissa Aset Bey, am the owner and founder. In the beginning, when I had my very first Loc client, he quickly jumped into helping me understand the significance of locs to his family and culture. He was from Jamaica. His parents from Haiti. The battles, uprisings, and honor for the steadfastness of the collective created a pride that announces “ya mon, I am a true Dread.” Telling me of the history of those regions and giving me his insight about loc’d hair set me on a path to dig further into the global history of Locs.

That was the very first perspective I had gained about Loc Life. Even though it’s sentimental for me, I’ve spent a lot of meditative time examining the narrative that burns when our locs are called “dreads.” Our Locs are certainly NOT dread-ful. I hear your heart and voices. We want to feel good about our Loc Journeys and respect the Legacy. And I realize that if I am going to really truly serve you with a light heart and clean hands, I also have to make sure you know you are entering a safe space where the Legacy of your Locs is the priority and our History is honored. #This is why I have rebranded away from UniVersal Dreads.

Moving through the years, I quickly understood that Locs are the most natural and normal way for all of us to have our hair. I have also personally learned the significance of Locs to Spirituality. I had become so passionate and obsessed with Locs, I felt this is the path where I can serve and bring Light. And I continue to do so in a variety of ways for those open to receive. All the ways I serve my people are rooted in Locs and Love.

Live Your Best Loc Life and feel free to reach me for everything Loc- related.

Love, Aissa
